The Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) is a member-driven organization that represents Florida’s environmental horticulture industry. In addition to providing marketing programs and venues for industry members, the association provides professional accreditation opportunities to interested individuals.
The FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional (FCHP) program is the industry standard for measuring horticulture knowledge and is designed for individuals working in the horticulture industry or interested in entering the field. Candidates must pass a comprehensive four-part exam to demonstrate knowledge. Learn more about the FNGLA tutoring program.
With the goal of enhancing the likelihood of participants to secure full-time, paid employment, Wilmot Botanical Gardens is offering once-weekly tutoring sessions to special needs young adults that are interested in pursuing the certification. The tutoring program will prepare individuals for the industry-recognized FCHP examination, which if passed will position them as a competitive applicant for entry-level jobs within the horticulture industry. Tutoring sessions are conducted by Dr. Charles Guy who is presently Professor Emeritus of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry in the Department of Environmental Horticulture. He was a professor with the department from 1984 to 2018.
